It’s official! Broadway Plaza's Great British Eatery (GBE) restaurant is the best fish and chip shop in England.
The restaurant scooped third place in today’s grand final of the National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year, organised by Seafish, the authority on seafood. The first and second winners are based in Scotland and Wales respectively, meaning GBE can enjoy the title of England’s best chippy.
Owners Conrad Brunton and Andrew Insley, who set up the restaurant in August 2008, said this afternoon they were over the moon at their success.
“We’re just so thrilled,” Conrad said. “It’s such a great achievement considering we only set up the restaurant just over a year ago.
“We are so happy that Birmingham now has a fish and chip shop of which Brummies can be truly proud!”
He added that they would be taking staff out for a huge celebration.
